Our Pet Grooming Policy
Appointment Arrival Times
We schedule our appointments to ensure we have plenty of time to arrive at each appointment on time. However, we allow for a 15 minute arrival window in cases where traffic or a previous appointment causes unexpected delays. Should we be running behind schedule more than 15 minutes we will call you with an updated arrival time.
Entering and Exiting the Grooming Van
Whether you walk or carry your dog, for safety reasons all dogs are required to be on a leash when entering or exiting the grooming van.
Our facility is equipped with a water heater for temperature controlled water all year long. All dogs are bathed in weather suitable water temperatures. We thoroughly shampoo using organic shampoo and rinse. For dogs with skin conditions or allergies, we may recommend a specialty shampoo and conditioner. All of our products are of the highest quality and safe for all dogs.
We use a mild cleansing solution to clean your dog’s ears. Ear hair will be trimmed or plucked as part of our full service groom. Please let us know if you do not wish to have this service provided.
Your dog’s nails will checked, cut and/or trimmed as needed at each grooming session. We will trim and hand dremel the nails as short as possible without cutting into the quick.
Anal Gland Expression
As part of our full service groom package we will express your dog’s anal glands. If you do not want this procedure, please let us know. If your dog has impacted anal glands, you will need to contact your veterinarian to perform the procedure.
Our groomers take great care and patience to groom your dog with a gentle and comforting touch. Some dogs are very uncomfortable with certain standard grooming procedures. To ensure the safety of the dog and groomer, should your dog show any level of aggression, the groomer may use a soft cloth muzzle on your dog without your permission during these procedures. Muzzles are not standard practice, and we will try everything we can to avoid using the muzzle.
Safety is a priority for people and dogs during the grooming session. Clients must inform Dallas Grooming prior to their grooming session if your dog has bitten in the past or has aggressive tendencies. Dog owner will be liable for any medical expenses or property damage caused by their dog. Dallas Grooming never uses sedatives when grooming dogs, therefore, if you have an aggressive dog, we recommend finding a groomer or veterinarian that can safely sedate and monitor your dog during the grooming process.
Our groomers take a very gentle approach to grooming your dog. However, older dogs or dogs with health issues may feel especially stressed when exposed to a full grooming session. For these dogs, our groomers will gauge the stress level and groom as much as possible to maintain beauty and health without causing stress or discomfort.
Puppies or First Timers
When scheduling your appointment, please let us know that you have a puppy or a dog that has never been groomed before. We will take extra time to ensure the first time is a positive experience. We will allow your dog to smell, hear and see all of the equipment and approach them very slowly and gently. A full groom may not be appropriate or possible for the first timer. The groomer will discuss the experience with you when you pick up your dog.
It is important to let us know if your dog has any medical conditions that may be aggravated during the grooming session. Should an emergency arise and Dallas Grooming is not able to contact the owner, we will seek the services of a veterinarian at the client’s expense.
We require your dog be up-to-date on all required vaccinations. Proof of vaccination will be required and notated on file at time of first appointment.
Our van is sanitized daily. The grooming stations and all shared grooming tools are disinfected between each appointment. Every dog gets a freshly laundered sanitized towel. We use an organic non-toxic cleaning product that is safe for animals and the environment.
If you are pleased with the service provided to you and your dog, you may provide a gratuity directly to your groomer when you pick up your dog. Gratuities are not required but are always appreciated.
We will make every attempt to schedule your appointments on your schedule. We are typically booked 2-4 weeks in advance. Regularly scheduled clients have priority. To schedule an appointment, please call us at 469-500-5250
Payment is due at time of pick-up. We accept cash, checks or credit cards. There is a $4 surcharge for all credit card payments. NSF check will incur a $40 fee plus any bank fees charged to Dallas Grooming.
We require a 24 hour cancellation or rescheduling notice if you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment. Cancellations with a notice of less than 24 hours will be subject to a $50 “no show fee”.
No Show Fee
If a customer is not at home for a schedule appointment and does not provide a 24-hour cancellation notice, there will be a $50 “no show fee” applied to that customer’s account. Any “no show fees” must be paid at next appointment at when you drop off your dog.
Dallas Grooming may take and use pictures of your dog before, after and/or during a grooming session for promotional purposes.
Dallas Grooming reserves the right to change pricing, time of appointment, policies and/or fees at any time without notice.
